The extra hour of early morning play time for is essential for golfers in Texas. It is both necessary for
safety and health of the golfer and workers as the temperature variance can be up to 20 degrees from
7 am to 2 or 3 in the afternoon. Maintenance of a golf course is an inherent necessity and the rough
which is close to the homes is only mowed 1 day a week. Mowing starts at hole 1 and proceeds to
hole 18, meaning this change will affect a minimal number of homes on the course. The extra 28 - 32
golfers that are able to get out earlier is also important to the viability of the club. The club also
supports Carroll Dragon Golf which takes a number of additional times in the afternoon leaving less
availability for members making the additional times in the morning important as well.

Subject: FW: Please vote Yes for Timarron Country Club's Noise Ordinance Variance Request 5/19
From: Jamie Wimberly

Subject: Please vote Yes for Timarron Country Club's Noise Ordinance Variance Request 5/19
Mayor Hill and Council Members,
I am a 24 year resident and founding member of Timarron Country Club (TCC') currently serving on the Board of
Governors as the Chairperson of the Golf Committee.
I fully support the request for a variance to the Noise Ordinance to begin maintenance at 6:00 a.m. for several
specific reasons:
1. Beginning course maintenance at 6:00 a.m. has been the standard practice and resident -accepted norm for over
24 years.
2. Mowing the first hour of the day only takes place on 4 holes and 2 small practice areas. Homeowners adjacent to
the other 14 holes would not be affected.
3. Maintenance of the golf course affects the business of the golf course. The golf course is not a lawn, it is the
major asset of the club, unlike a home's yard or landscaping at a business property in Southlake.
4. TCC is a golf club. It does not offer its members tennis or pool facilities as most country clubs do. Golf is the main
attraction for current and potential members. The course itself has hosted prestigious tournaments for the PGA and
USGA and is home to the Southlake Carroll Dragons golf teams. The course must be prepared early to accommodate
the tournament requirements of these organizations and we have been able to do so for years but that is at risk
without the variance.
5. Allowing a 6:00am start time provides employees and the Club's members the ability to be on the course during
the cooler hours of the day limiting sun and heat exposure.
6. Course maintenance starting at 7:00am results in later member access to the golf course. My fear is for the first
time ever we will be unable to offer early tee times during the summer and members will leave for nearby properties
that do. As TCC is owned by a Private Equity Group, the potential loss in revenue puts a target on their back for
divestiture. I would not want to see those 150+ acres sold to a developer or another golf management company that
would not maintain it to the high standards currently being enjoyed by the membership and adjacent homeowners.
7. The decibel levels of the 2 pieces of mowing equipment being used the first hour are below the ordinance
standards for daytime hours. These mowers do not operate at the property line, they are strictly used on tee boxes,
fairways and greens.
8. The variance request is for TCC, not the entire Timarron neighborhood as some residents have speculated via
social media.
9. The golf course came first. The maintenance mowing schedule was in place before the first adjacent homeowner
moved in.
I respectfully ask that you vote to support the variance on May 19th to allow Timarron Country Club to mow holes 1,
2, 9, & 10 and 2 practice areas year round: beginning at 6:00 am. I am available to answer any questions you may
have once you receive your packet for the meeting on the 19th. Please don't hesitate to respond to this emailor call
me directly at 817-371-9267.
Thank you for your continued service to our community. It is greatly appreciated.
