CALL TO ORDER — City Librarian Cynthia Pfledderer 2. CONSENT A. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES FROM THE November 4, 2019, SOUTHLAKE LIBRARY BOARD MEETING. APPROVED A motion was made to approve the minutes as amended from the November 4, 2019, Southlake Library Board meeting. OFFICER ELECTIONS A motion was made to elect Katherine Bennett as Chair of the Library Board for FY 2020. A motion was made to elect Lori Burr as Vice-Chair of the Library Board for FY 2020. Motion: Siebach Second: Bennett Ayes: Darr, Eaton, Theaker, Burr (Subedi absent for vote) Nays: None Abstain: None Vote: 6-0 Motion Carried. 4. REPORT A. LIBRARIAN'S REPORT City Librarian discussed the Library statistical performance for the month of November 2019. Traffic numbers are not accurate because the security gates were out of working order from September through December 12, 2019. An estimated traffic count is provided based on historical data. Print circulation is up 7% for the month and all digital circulation is up 17% for the month. The Cloud Library circulation was up 14% for the month. Computer usage was up 6% and study room use is increasing with a 78% growth for the month. Programming is down and we expect it to be down for the year because there was a $10,000 grant supporting programming in 2019, which will not be available in 2020. Volunteer hours are down for the month, as are proctored exams and notary requests. Interlibrary Loan requests are continuing to rise with a 37% increase for the month. 5. LIBRARY OVERVIEW & UPCOMING EVENTS City Librarian Pfledderer discussed staffing at the Library and two vacancies which will be filled within the next month, a Clerk position and the Administrative Secretary position. The Library will be offering several holiday events and activities, including an Ugly Sweater Painting Class, Mrs. Claus Story Time, a magic show, Noon Year's Eve and Mad Science. The Board discussed programming ideas for 2020, including support for the Census and activities for children. NEW BUSINESS No new business was presented. 7. PUBLIC FORUM Chair Bennett opened the public forum at 6:56 p.m. and asked for anyone wishing to speak to come forward. There being no questions, the public forum was closed at 6:56 p.m. 9.
