Action Requested: Approval of Resolution No. 20-001, Tarrant County Hazard Mitigation Action Plan.
Background
Information: I am writing to seek approval of Resolution No. 20-001, Tarrant County Hazard
Mitigation Action Plan. The Hazard Mitigation Action Plan (HazMAP) has been
reviewed by the Texas Division of Emergency Management, the Federal Emergency
Management Agency, and has been formally approved by FEMA pending adoption
by the City of Southlake.

Financial Impact: Loss of federal mitigation funding.

The Tarrant County Hazard Mitigation Action Plan was reviewed by the Texas
Division of Emergency Management and the Federal Emergency Management
Agency.
Without approval, the City of Southlake will not be eligible to participate in the
Hazard Mitigation Grant Program

RESOLUTION NO. 20-001
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE
ADOPTING THE TARRANT COUNTY HAZARD
MITIGATION ACTION PLAN, JANUARY 2020
WHEREAS the City of Southlake City Council and Mayor recognizes the threat that natural hazards
pose to people and property within Tarrant County; and
WHEREAS the County of Tarrant has prepared a multi -hazard mitigation plan, hereby known as Tarrant
County Hazard Mitigation Action Plan, January 2020 in accordance with the Disaster Mitigation Act
of 2000; and
WHEREAS Tarrant County Hazard Mitigation Action Plan, January 2020 identifies mitigation goals
and actions to reduce or eliminate long-term risk to people and property in the City of Southlake from
the impacts of future hazards and disasters; and
WHEREAS adoption by City of Southlake City Council and Mayor demonstrates their commitment to the
hazard mitigation and achieving the goals outlined in the Tarrant County Hazard Mitigation Action
Plan, January 2020.
NOWTHEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BYTHE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS,THAT:
Section 1. The City of Southlake City Council and Mayor approves and adopts the Tarrant County
Hazard Mitigation Action Plan, January 2020 in its entirety.

Jurisdiction HMP, and the plan is found to be approvable pending adoption. In order for
this plan to receive final FEMA approval, the jurisdiukn(s) must adopt this plan and
submit the complete adoption package to the state wilthin 90 days. The plan update
tinieline will begin on the date of the FEMA approval letter. Please e-mail the complete
adoption package to TDEM-Mitigation( tdern texas.gov and
Natalie.Johrison@tdL-m.texas.gov as follows:

Plan must be dated to match the date of the first adoption
- Remove track charges, strikethroughs and highlights
All signed resolutions as a separate single document
