Southlake Blvd. Staff presentation: Dennis Killough • Remove gables from buildings o To address leaking from building o Extend roof slopes and maintain articulation of building • Renderings – portions of building before and after finished product Questions for staff by the Committee: Brandon Bledsoe: Changing approved site plan, are there specific articulation issues? Dennis Killough: Yes, they would need to get a variance Brandon Bledsoe: Is there another solution where the applicant would not need to obtain a variance? Dennis Killough: I am unaware of other options, but we can explore that. Applicant presentation: Michael Brady • Problems with leakage on/from roof from the beginning • Roof replaced 6 years ago • Remodeled building into King’s University Questions for applicant by the Committee: Chad Patton: From proposal, how many gables are being removed; all of them? Applicant: All 24 gables to be removed, 6 bump-outs to be removed from the northeast side. Michael Springer: Why does the roof have to be at standing seam? Have you looked at other options? Applicant: The building is designed to hold a metal roof. We’ve looked at multiple solutions, but it is marginal to lay more metal on the roof. Shawn McCaskill: Mr. Bledsoe gave good advice to work with our city staff to find other ideas/solutions; hopefully there’s a better way.
