FORUM SUMMARY: Details: The City of Southlake is proposing amendments to the Landscape Ordinance. Landscape Ordinance 544 Proposed Changes • Encourage and promote Low Impact Development (LID) through use of bioswales, bioretention, and raingardens to reduce stormwater runoff • Encourage developers to explore options for stormwater management; capture pollutants from stormwater; reduce heat island effect; reduce heating and cooling costs of building by installing green roofs • Encourage use of native and adaptive plants in landscape to reduce water usage citywide Presentation: Questions and Concerns: Question: Regarding the bioswales, are there any mosquito problems associated with those? Answer: Bioswale reduces water runoff, so it works to slow down water and drain out. Typically, these devices do not hold standing water for an extended period. Question: How do interior landscape credits help a developer? Answer: The interior landscape is required and is inside the bufferyard area. We are trying to offset costs and add new elements into the landscape. SPIN Meeting Reports are general observations of SPIN Meetings by City staff and SPIN Repr esentatives.
