Mr. Reed gave the invocation. Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Shawn McCaskill led the pledges
of allegiance to the United States and Texas Flags.
3. PRESENTATION OF VOLUNTEER SERVICE AWARD
Director of Human Resources Stacey Black presented a volunteer service award to
Nikoletta Shockley with a Bronze Presidential service ward. Nikoletta volunteered 119
hours with Volunteer Southlake last year in areas such as the Senior Center, Teen Court,
Special Events, and Camp Mania.
4. ANNUAL SOUTHLAKE KIDS INTERESTED IN LEADERSHIP (SKIL) UPDATE

Deputy Director of Economic Development Daniel Cortez introduced the Southlake Kids
Interested in Leadership (SKIL) group, and they provided an update to the City Council
ion the SKIL’s activities and accomplishments over the last year.
5. HEALTH & WELLNESS MASTER PLAN
Senior Director of Planning and Development Services Ken Baker provided an update to
the City Council on the status of the new 2035 Comprehensive Plan Element. This plan
focuses on summarizing the many existing health and wellness policies and programs in
place in the City and includes 34 recommendations with the four plan topic areas: Built
and Natural Environment, Mental and Physical Health, Age-Friendly Communities, and
Community Resiliency.

Deputy Mayor Pro Tem McCaskill announced the City Council would go into Executive
Session pursuant to the Open Meetings Act, Chapter 551, Texas Government Code,
Sections 551.071 consultation with city attorney; and, 551.087 deliberation regarding
economic development negotiations. City Council adjourned for Executive Session at
6:14pm. Executive Session began at 6:25pm and concluded at 7:00pm.

Deputy Mayor Pro Tem McCaskill reconvened the meeting at 7:04pm.

3A. MAYOR’S REPORT
Deputy Mayor Pro Tem McCaskill stated there were two recent fundraising events, the
first was Bobby’s Fest for Amy’s Wish with Wings, that was a concert at The Marq which
raised $80,000. The second event was the 3rd annual Run4Elise at Gateway Church. The
weather was great, it was warm and very well attended.

City Manager Shana Yelverton introduced Senior Director of Planning and Development
Services Ken Baker who highlighted the work of the Building Services Division, including
changes that have been made to improve service.
