PROJECT: Master Sign Plan for Methodist Southlake Hospital
EXECUTIVE
SUMMARY: On behalf of Methodist Southlake Hospital, ASI Signage Innovations, is requesting
approval of a Master Sign Plan for the rebranding of the new Methodist Southlake
Hospital located at 335 East State Highway 114.
REQUEST: The proposed Master Sign Plan includes sign regulations for attached signs on the
north elevation of the main hospital building, north elevation of the parking garage,
dimensional letters for the outpatient discharge and parking garage, five directional
signs throughout the site, and a revised entry monument sign. The original building
address numerals and the emergency and ambulance signs on the hospital
building will remain the same on the buildings and the entry monument sign. The
existing medical office building signage will remain as is and will not be included
with this master sign plan request. The original Forest Park Medical Center
approved master sign plan and master sign plan amendment (MSP13-002 and
MSP16-004) are shown in the Plans and Support Information.

• The existing Emergency and Ambulance building signs on the east hospital façade will
remain.
• An approved Emergency monument sign along the SH114 access road east entry
driveway was not installed by the Forest Park Medical Center.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
OWNER: Methodist Southlake Hospital
APPLICANT: ASI Signage Innovations
PROPERTY SITUATION: The property is located at 335 E. State Highway 114
LEGAL DESCRIPTION: Lots 1 – 5, Block 1, Southlake Medical District
HISTORY: March 5, 2013; City Council approved the Master Sign Plan as
presented to include the revised Emergency Monument sign that
was distributed during the meeting. (MSP13-002)
April 16, 2013; City Council approved on the consent agenda the
amendment to the Master Sign Plan for the attached signs for the
parking garage.
June 2, 2015; City Council approved a sign amendment to the
Forest Park Medical site for the Medical Office Building subject to
the following with a list of stipulations applied to Building ‘1’ and all
other medical office buildings built on this campus; the east and
west elevations will be limited to the “Southlake Medical” signs as
represented on the renderings as well as the building identification
number; the north elevation will be allowed a ‘tenant one’ sign,
however, the specific sign(s) shall be required to come back for
Council approval; the ‘tenant three’ sign for Clinic 21 is approved for
Building ‘1’ with the same letter type, color and illumination as the
“Southlake Medical” signs on the east and west elevations; and no
other proposed tenant signage is approved.
SIGN BOARD: August 18, 2016; Approved (4-0) subject to the staff report dated
August 12, 2016.
CITY COUNCIL: September 6, 2016; Approved (7-0) subject to Staff Report dated
August 30, 2016 and noting applicant’s agreement to remove
directional signage locations #7 and #9 as depicted tonight and
noting applicant’s agreement that the overall directional signage will
decrease from 18 ½ square feet to 10 ½ square feet.
