Subject: Resolution No. 19-006, Appoint a member to the Crime Control
and Prevention District
Action Requested: Appoint a member to the Crime Control and Prevention District.
Background
Information: On November 4, 1997, Southlake voters approved a proposition to
create the Southlake Crime Control and Prevention District,
dedicated to formulating crime reduction programs and the
administration of the one-half cent sales and use tax collected for
the support of crime reduction programs authorized by the city and
on February 2, 2002, voters approved a continuation of the District
for 15 years.
Section 363.101(a)(b) of the Local Government Code states that
the District is governed by a board of seven (7) directors who serve
staggered two-year terms that expire September 1.
Pursuant to Section 7.11 of the Charter of the City of Southlake, if
any member of a board or commission becomes a candidate for
election to any public office of the City, he\she shall immediately
upon becoming a candidate forfeit, his/her place as a member of
such board and commission.
The position occupied by Ms. Mary Grace Thoennes (Place 5), with
a term to expire on September 1, 2020, is vacant due to becoming
a candidate in the May 4, 2019 General Election.

RESOLUTION NO. 19-006
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, APPOINTING A MEMBER TO THE
SOUTHLAKE CRIME CONTROL AND PREVENTION DISTRICT TO
FILL A VACANCY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 363.051 (The "Act") authorizes a
municipality that is partially or wholly located in a county with a population
of more than one million to create a crime control district within its
jurisdiction; and,
WHEREAS, on November 4, 1997, Southlake voters approved a proposition to create
the Southlake Crime Control and Prevention District, dedicated to
formulating crime reduction programs and the administration of the one -
half cent sales and use tax collected for the support of crime reduction
programs authorized by the city, and on February 2, 2002, voters
approved a continuation of the District for 15 years; and,
WHEREAS, Section 363.101(a)(b) of the Local Government Code states that the

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, THAT:
Section 1. All findings in the preamble are found to be true and correct and the City
Council hereby incorporates said findings into the body of this resolution
as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. The City Council hereby appoints the following person to serve on the
Crime Control and Prevention District:

Section 3. This resolution is effective upon passage by the City Council.
