Information:
Approve Resolution No. 19-003, to appoint twenty (20) members
representing diverse constituencies to serve on the Mayor’s
Alliance for Unity and Culture Committee.
City Council recognized the need for the Mayor’s Alliance for Unity
and Culture Committee to assist the City Council and City staff by
providing diverse insight and advice to foster positive
relationships and a welcoming community for everyone who lives,
works, and visits the City of Southlake.
Resolution No. 18-050 was approved by Council on December 4,
2018 to establish the Mayor’s Alliance for Unity and
Culture Committee. The resolution establishes a Mayor’s Alliance
for Unity and Culture Committee that will act in an advisory
capacity to the City Council and City Staff in the planning and
implementation of programs and activities involving diversity,
inclusion, and equality. The resolution also provides for the number
of members, terms of office, qualifications, duties and
responsibilities to govern the committee.
The Committee members shall be appointed by the City Council for
two-year terms. Members shall serve until their successors are
appointed. Places on the Committee shall be numbered one (1)
through twenty (20).
The Mayor’s Alliance for Unity and Culture Committee shall
adopt Articles of Organization to govern its activities and
meetings. The adoption and any amendment of these Articles shall
be subject to approval of the City Council.
Any member of the Mayor’s Alliance for Unity and Culture
Committee duly appointed by the City Council shall automatically
forfeit the seat on the committee in the event he/she 1)
discontinues employment or residence with the city limits of
Southlake or 2) files for public office. The committee may, by
inclusion in the Articles of Organization, establish additional
grounds for forfeiture or removal from the committee.

RESOLUTION NO. 19-003
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE
MAYOR’S ALLIANCE FOR UNITY AND CULTURE COMMITTEE;
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
Whereas, on December 4, 2018, the City Council of the City of Southlake, Texas
approved Resolution No. 18-050 to establish the Mayor’s Alliance for Unity
and Culture Committee; and
Whereas, Resolution No. 18-050 creates a Mayor’s Alliance for Unity and Culture
Committee to act in an advisory capacity to the City Council and City
Staff in the planning and implementation of programs and activities
involving diversity, inclusion, and equality; and
Whereas, the Mayor’s Alliance for Unity and Culture Committee shall be comprised
of twenty (20) members representing diverse constituencies who shall be
appointed by a majority vote of the City Council for two (2) year terms;
and
Whereas, the City Council desires to appoint twenty (20) members to the Mayor’s
Alliance for Unity and Culture Committee with places on the
committee to be numbered one (1) through twenty (20).
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, THAT:
Section 1. All the findings in the preamble are found to be true and correct and the City
Council does hereby incorporate said findings into the body of this
resolution as if copied in its entirety.
Section 2. That the City of Southlake hereby appoints the following citizens to Places 1
through 20:
