EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Property Situation
The property is located at 1453 and 1501 W. Southlake Blvd. and 301 S. Peytonville Ave.,
Carroll Senior High School.
Development Details
Carroll Independent School District is proposing a revision to the Carroll Senior High
School parking lot to allow for a dedicated drop off pick up lane and reconfiguration
of the pedestrian crossing to allow for traffic calming devises at the crossings. Also
proposed is the addition of parking spaces for aquatic center use. A zoning change is
required with this proposal because it is currently zoned S -P -1 Detailed Site Plan
District which is site specific.
QUESTIONS DISCUSSION
QUESTION: Won't the proposed fire lane cause people to continue to break the
rules?
RESPONSE: Not if they stay in their vehicles.
QUESTION: Will it be enforced?
RESPONSE: Yes.
QUESTION: For safety reasons, can you force egress out onto Peytonville?
RESPONSE: We can take a look at that.
QUESTION: How many extra spaces are you proposing?
RESPONSE: Well, there are currently 19 spaces; we are proposing 82.
QUESTION: Will these spaces be for the aquatics center exclusively? No student,
teacher or maintenance worker parking?
RESPONSE: That is the intention.
COMMENT: There needs to be clear signage to keep out other people, i.e. teachers,
maintenance people, possibly other people using the running track or
tennis courts. Clearly state aquatics parking only.
QUESTION: When will this happen?
RESPONSE: Once school is out and approvals are obtained from the city. We are
anticipating June 8, 2009.
QUESTION: What about drainage? Where's the water going to go?
RESPONSE: We plan to slope drainage to curb and gutter.
At this point in the meeting, discussion occurred regarding the fencing and landscape
buffers. Mr. Citty stated for the record that board on board fencing and shrubs would be
provided for privacy adjacent to the neighborhood on the eastern boundary of the aquatics
center and just south of the parking area only.
