Questions Summary from SPIN Citywide Forum
Proposed Verizon Network Operations and Control Center (NOC)
June 6, 2001— 7:00 p.m.
Can Verizon approach TxDOT with some resources in order to facilitate a secondary access
point from S.H. 114 for Sabre and Verizon? TxDOT might be receptive to resources
provided by these entities and alter their plans. The concern of the surrounding residents is
to keep traffic down on Kirkwood.
Can the proposal be adjusted to include two (2) access points from Dove Road and no access
from Kirkwood?
What is the plan for the intersection of Kirkwood and Dove? Will this intersection be
signallized? If not, how are residents of Kirkwood Hollow going to make a left hand turn
onto Dove from Kirkwood?
Contrary to earlier assertion, this is a dense development there is parking in several areas,
future expansion areas are only referred to here and are not controlled by consideration of
this project these points must be covered NOW versus simply referring to it as "future
development."
This lot is the high point of the surrounding area the tower may only be part of the structure
on the 2nd story, however has Verizon considered that the surrounding residents will be able
to see a good part of this tower due to the land being higher than the surrounding area?
Would Verizon be amenable to accepting deed restrictions on the building height?
Has Verizon considered the impact of traffic in conjunction with the future school at Dove
and White Chapel? Has Verizon considered their operations and the impact that it would
have on school bus traffic in the morning?
When would the project propose to break ground? What is the timeframe for construction?
What is the timeline for W. Dove and S.H. 114 to open again? Has Verizon considered that
when this intersection opens again that there will be a large amount of cut through traffic on
Dove going to Grapevine, and even potentially as far as North Dallas?
When will the traffic impact study be completed? Can this report be distributed to the
meeting participants prior to the joint Planning and Zoning Commission /City Council
meeting next week?
What are the "hours" for employees? Are the shift hours flexible?
Notification for this meeting was lacking is the City required to publish a notice within a
certain amount of feet prior to this type of meeting? Should the City be doing more to
publish these type of requests?
In regards to what the assumptions are regarding revenue projections to the City, this City
has a high tax rate and I believe that a mixed -use, cluster -type development (similar to the
downtown Southlake area) would mean less density and provide greater revenues to the City
in the form of tax revenues. Has the City's Economic Development people analyzed the
impact of this proposal in terms of projected revenue?
