a small fluctuation and she believes it is largely related to the reduced
programming options this year. She reminded Library Board members that voting
impacted program space in both the fall and summer this year - reducing
program options and forcing some programs to be held off -site at the Southlake
Activity Center.
Digital circulation has declined due to EBSCO reporting changes but digital
Library circulation is up 146% for the year. Librarian Tucker mentioned that the
Library received at $10,000 grant from Texas State Library and Archives
Commission to put toward purchasing new digital audiobooks. Librarian Tucker
pointed out that digital content only makes up 10% of the Library's circulation
materials. Librarian Tucker said that Margo Rudder, a Southlake Library clerk
and CISD Lead Librarian, is planning to promote the Library's digital resources
among other CISD librarians this year such as BookFLIX and Flipster.
Computer usage and study room usage is down, though this may be due to a
lack of reliable statistic tracking system on part of the staff. However, the staff is
being trained to keep track of these statistics more effectively in the future.
There has been a decline in programming due to the lack of availability of the 3rd
floor shared space. The Youth department offered fewer programs in number but
offered more expensive programs. The Library received a TSLAC grant of
$10,000 for hands-on learning that will be used to fund summer programs in
2019. There was an increase in adult programming this year, including
watercolor painting classes, cooking classes, hang lettering, and writing
workshops. Adults were not required to register for Summer Reading this year
and the focus was placed on programs instead of tracking reading.
4. DISCUSSION
A. 2019 PROGRAMMING AND GRANTS
Librarian Tucker informed the Library Board that the Library received a $10,000
grant from Texas State Library and Archives Commission to buy approx. 150

that when purchasing a title there are three different formats to be considered,
eBook, print, and audiobook.
Librarian Tucker also went into further detail about the $10,000 from TSLAC for
hands on learning programs throughout the summer. The programs were
successful this year and the Library expects to offer more of these programs next
year, including technology, arts, social skills building, cooking, and other topics to
promote continued learning and community engagement.
Librarian Tucker offered a sample of programs that will be offered during Fiscal
Year 2019 including a writing program for teen and tween, writing for magazines,
