Pastor Reed gave the invocation. Mayor Laura Hill led the pledges of allegiance to the
United States and Texas Flags.

Assistant City Manager and Director of Economic Development & Tourism Alison
Ortowski introduced Evandro Caregnato, who presented a business overview of
Delucca Gaucho Pizza & Wine, located at 2001 W. Southlake Blvd, Suite 103,

Regular Session was called to order by Mayor Hill.
2A. EXECUTIVE SESSION
Mayor Hill announced the City Council would go into Executive Session pursuant to the
Open Meetings Act, Chapter 551, Texas Government Code, Section s 551.071
consultation with city attorney, and 551.072 deliberation regarding real property. City
Council adjourned for Executive Session at 5:44pm. Executive Session began at
6:08pm and concluded at 6:28pm.

Mayor Hill reconvened the meeting at 6:42pm. No action was necessary.

3B1. THE MARQ-CHAMPIONS CLUB STATUS REPORT
City Manager Shana Yelverton introduced Director of Community Services Chris
Tribble, who provided an update on the recent membership drive. City Manager
Yelverton thanked Director Tribble and his team for their professional handling of the
membership events. In addition, City Manager Yelverton thanked Chief Performance &
Innovation Officer Dale Dean for working to provide adequate infrastructure for the
online membership applications. Director of Public Works Rob Cohen provided an
update on construction and the current financial report.

At 6:55pm, Mayor Hill stated, since it was not yet 7:00pm, she would present the
Proclamation for Item 5B. Mayor Hill read the Proclamation. School Liaison Brandi
Hunt, Team Captain Bennett Gall, and Trap Captain Spender Fairchild addressed
Council. Council took pictures with the group.
5. PUBLIC FORUM
Mayor Hill opened the public forum at 7:06pm.
5A. GIRL SCOUT SILVER AW ARD PROJECT, GIRL SCOUTS MOLLY FORST
AND MARGARET THOMPSON.
Girl Scouts Molly Forst and Margaret Thompson addressed Council to request support
for their ‘No Straw Challenge’. The Mayor stated her appreciation for the girls’ concern
over the environment to eliminate/decrease the number of plastic straws making their
way into our dumps and waterways. Mayor Hill suggested the girls reach out to the
Chamber of Commerce for assistance in reaching the many local eateries here in
Southlake. Mayor Hill directed City Secretary to provide the girls the necessary contact
information.

City Council will conduct a 2nd Public Hearing at the September 18th City Council
meeting. Required language states the “City Council will vote on the tax rate on
September 18, 2018, at 5:30 p.m., or immediately following the work session in the City
Council Chambers at Town Hall, 1400 Main Street, Southlake, Texas.”
