I. CALL TO ORDER
Rick Wilhelm called the meeting to order, noting a
quorum was present.
II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF LAST MEETING
Upon a motion by Bethann Scratchard and a second by
David Baltimore, the minutes of the December 2, 1992,
meeting were approved as submitted.
III. TREASURER'S REPORT
Upon a motion by David Baltimore and a second by
Bethann Scratchard, the Treasurer's report was approved
as submitted.
IV. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S REPORT
Donna reported on a meeting to be held at GTE
Infomart on February 17, 1993, at 9:00 am, focusing on
telecommunications and Economic Development. She stated we
would be allowed to have three people in attendance and
Susan Evans had already shown interest. David Baltimore
also volunteered his time to attend and Donna stated she
would be in attendance also. Donna also reported the office
has been mailing out an average of seven relocation or
community packets a day, and the interest in Southlake seems
to continue to grow.
V. COMMITTEE REPORTS
A.) Business Retention: David Bergman reported he
and David Baltimore were making progress on the list of
the Southlake businesses to send the business retention
survey to. David also stated they would get this sent out
as soon as possible. Gary Terry suggested that after the
survey was completed, we might start forums with like size
businesses to network and work together. Gary said
this was already taking place in other areas and has
been very successful.
B.) Property Profile: John Drews was absent.
C.) Economic Profile: Greg Last reported the majority
of sales the city had seen on the profile had been mostly
from developers and builders.
D.) Tax Abatement/Incentive: Curtis Hawk stated we
now have data from Plano, Irving, San Antonio, and other
surrounding cities. Curtis also said he was in the process
of updating the file.
VI. OLD BUSINESS
A.) Post Office: Greg Last reported the Post Office
is very close to opening. He stated they were still in the
process of making decisions such as whether it will be
manned or unmanned, what hours it will be open, etc.
B.) Albertson's: John Drews was absent.
C.) Crossroads Square: Rick Wilhelm said David
McMahan reported the merchants are very happy and five
more stores are slated to open next week.
D.) Highway 1709 Construction: Curtis Hawk reported
that the contractors are trying to stay ahead of schedule.
VII. NEW BUSINESS
A.) Fast Facts: Rick Wilhelm passed out a copy of
The DallasFac. This is a pamphlet geared with quick
important facts on the Dallas area. Rick stated the
Southlake Economic Development Council had spoken of
creating a similar pamphlet and felt it was time to start
on it. The SEDC then listed what they felt would be
important areas to cover such as: Taxes, Schools/Education,
City Facts, Transportation (accessability to highways,
Dallas Fort Worth and Alliance Airports), Housing, Cultural
Banking, Purchasing Power, Land availability, Quality of
Life, Demographics, Utilities, Crime, Hospitals, and
organizations.

VIII. ADJOURNMENT
The next SEDC meeting is scheduled for February 24,
1993, at City Hall, Southlake, Texas.
