I. CALL TO ORDER
Rick Wilhelm, Chairman, called the meeting to order and
noted that a quorum was present.
II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF LAST MEETING
Motion was made by Susan Evans and seconded by Cheryl
Woolsey.
III. TREASURER'S REPORT
Donna Higgins explained the Budget report reflected the
past two months, instead of just one month. The treasurer's
report was motioned by David Bergman and seconded by Cheryl
Woolsey.
IV. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Donna Higgins reported on the upcoming Metroport
project. This project is a Texas display in the Frankfurt,
Germany airport. The display will be the size of two
football fields and our part will include the metroport
video which has now been translated into German and eight
photos of the metroport cities. Donna suggested that the
Southlake Chamber of Commerce and the Southlake Economic
Development Council donate fifty dollars each toward this
project. The suggestion was motioned by Susan Evans and
seconded by Cheryl Woolsey. Donna also reported that David
McMahan of the Crossroads Shopping Center would be leaving
information on the current leasing status at the chamber.
This will allow the chamber staff to answer any calls they
receive regarding the center.
V. COMMITTEE REPORTS
A.) Economic Profile: Bethann Scratchard reported
that she and Greg Last were still working on the draft
report.
B.) Property Profile: John Drews was absent.
C.) Business Retention: It was decided that Cheryl
Woolsey, Betty Springer and David Bergman would visit
approximately eight businesses per month. It was also
decided that these businesses would have to be called upon
first, since there has been no response to the ads that ran
in the Southlake Chamber of Commerce News and Times and the
Southlake Journal, asking businesses to call them.
D.) Abatements: Susan Evans discussed the the fact
that we needed to decide if we were going to use abatements,
and if so, what type of abatements would be used.
VI. OLD BUSINESS
A.) FM 1709: Rick Wilhelm reported that the city of
Southlake has agreed to pay one million dollars for road
improvements. The bids will be completed by the end of
July. Keller is still debating over medians or a center
turn lane. Therefore, the road improvement continuation
past the boundaries of Southlake is questionable. Rick
Wilhelm reported the Timarron Development's Golf Course and
Clubhouse was approved at the last city council meeting.
Susan Evans explained the Golf Course and Clubhouse will be
a major attraction for new companies and industries in the
Southlake area.
B.) David Baltimore reported that Grid Systems, a
Tandy Corporation, will be moving into the Solana offices.
Richard Kuhlman stated that everything was not finalized at
this time. However, he did state that they had a temporary
committment .
C.) Post Office: Rick Wilhelm reported that the
construction is still in progress.
D.) Texaco Food Mart: Rick Wilhelm reported that the
construction of the Texaco Food Mart, at the corner of .
Randall Mill Road and FM 1709 and Southlake Boulevard, is on
schedule.
VII. NEW BUSINESS
A.) Chamber Luncheon: Rick Wilhelm reminded the Board
that the Southlake Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon will
be held May 26, 1992, at 11:30am at the Marriott Solana
Hotel.
VIII. ADJOURNMENT
