Agenda:
1. Call to Order - Welcome
Joe Monfort welcomed the 45 members present at 7:05 P.M. He also gave them an
outline of the night's events.
2. Re -cap last meeting
Joe and Katie Huff spoke about the September 16, 1998 meeting, reviewing the results
of their group work involving ideas pertaining to community service events.
3. Announcements - Upcoming events
a. Make -A -Difference Day, October 24, 1998
Katie told the members more details about Make -A -Difference Day
that involves landscaping projects at the Senior Center.
b. Trash Pick -Up, October 17, 1998
Joe spoke about the trash pick-up and the need for volunteers. He
announced that the group will meet for the pick-up at Bicentennial
Park at 8:00 that morning.
C. Ronald McDonald House, Tinsel Time on Ice, November 15, 1998
Joe informed the members of the volunteers needed to help make the
Ronald McDonald House Benefit a success. Volunteers will be
needed to ice skate with kids, dress up as elves, and help make
presents for their parents.
d. Harvest Fest, October 24, 1998
Kristen Kish announced that Harvest Fest was coming up and that SYAC needs
to make decisions on how many booths they would have and the type of
activities they would have. She announced that we would be breaking into
groups later to brainstorm.
e. Southlake Saturday Night, October 10, 1998
Taylor announced that Southlake Saturday Night would be held at Durham
Elementary and that anyone is eligible to help if your are over 16.

4. Group Work - Brainstorming
(Middle School - Taylor; A-F Kristen; G-N Joe M-Z Katie;)
a. Harvest Fest ideas
Members split into groups according to last name and talked about ideas for
Harvest Fest. Time: 20 minutes
b. Sign -Up Sheets
Sign -Up sheets were explained and passed around during small group time.
5. Discussion / Vote for Harvest Fest Booths
Groups came up with 14 ideas and voted on 8. The finalists of Cake Walk and
Face Painting got 27 and 14 votes respectively.
6. Meeting Adjournment - 7:40 P.M.
