SUBJECT: 1/20/92 Parks Board Meeting Summary
The January 20th meeting of the Southlake Parks and Recreation
Board included the following items for discussion and action.
,A. New Member.
New Park Board member Mike Thompson was introduced and
welcomed by Board Chair Janet Murphy.
B. Election of New Officers.
The board unanimously reconfirmed Janet Murphy as Chairperson
and Ann Barnes as Secretary for the 1992 year. Rod Johnson
was confirmed to serve as Vice Chair.
C. Timmaron Park Dedication Fee Request.
Susan Evans of Mobil Land Development appeared before the
Board to discuss. planned community amenities for the Timmaron
development. Timmaron also made a request for 50% credit on
its required park dedication fees for Phase I.
The Parks Board did not act to recommend approval of this
request after lengthy discussion. The Board tabled the item
for consideration at their February meeting.
D. Southlake Baseball Association Presentation.
Richard Lantz with the Baseball Association appeared to
discuss proposed scheduling changes for the 1992 season.
These changes call for the Southlake Baseball Association to
reserve March 15 - July 31 for the Association's use.
Individuals interested in gaining access to the fields during
this time frame would contact the Association first to make
such arrangements.
The Association also presented the Board with a "wish list" of
Park improvements to be considered during the next budget
sessions.
E. Bicentennial Park Maintenance.
Randy Robertson reported that Eagle Scout Robert Bastian of
Southlake plans to do volunteer repair work on picnic
equipment at the Park as part of his Scout merit requirements.

G. Park and Recreation Revenues Mechanis.l.a.
The Parks Board discussed the possibility of going before the
City Council to request a .05 sales tax to be dedicated to
Park and Recreation improvements. The Board plans to research
this idea and take it up at the February meeting.
