1992-11-09CITY OF SOUTHLAKE PARK AND RECREATION BOARD MEETING Monday, November 9, 1992 Minutes Board members present: Chairwoman, Janet Murphy; Members: Ann Barnes, Carol Lee Hamilton, R. Johnson, Mike Jurecka, Donn Renwick, and Mike Thompson. City staff present: Chris Terry, Asst. to the City Manager. Meeting called to order at 7:10 p.m. Agenda Items Discussed: 3. Administrative Comments: a) City Manager, Curtis Hawk appeared before the Board to explain that the City made a payment of $3,023.20 to the Southlake Baseball Association for improvements made to Bicentennial Park in the spring of 1991. b) Murphy reported that the Oct. 31 Haunted House and Hayride was a financial and popular success. Murphy reported that the City's portion of proceeds from the event would total approximately $800.00. The Board felt this money might be used to purchase lighting for the parking lot area at Bicentennial Park. Barnes will draft a critique and summary of this year's Halloween event in an effort to identify ways to improve the activity next year. 4. Consider: Timarron - Phase II - Park Dedication Fees. Mobil Land Development Corp. President, Susan Evans appeared before the Board to request 50% credit on their park dedication requirements for Phase II of their Timarron subdivision development. Ms. Evans presented an update on work in progress on the development. R. Johnson asked what the total amount of proposed acreage for open space is for Phase II. Ms. Evans indicated that a total of 10 acres of open space are set aside in the Phase II development. Thompson stressed the City's need to acquire additional land for parks and recreational purposes if at all possible. Murphy inquired about a deep trench behind the Community Building. Terry reported that it related to the drainage work being performed at Bicentennial Park. Meeting Adjournedjat 10:10 p.m. The next regularly scheduled Parks & Rec. Board meeting is set for Monday, December 7, 1992 in the City Council Chambers at City Hall.
