1993-05-10City of Southlake, Texas CITY OF SOUTHLAKE 667 N. Carroll Avenue TEEN COURT ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING MAY 10, 1993 6:00 P.M. MINUTES MEMBERS PRESENT:Sue McNutt, Cathy Turner, Janine Bernasek, Christen Gustafson, Ayn Henderson, Jason Miller Agenda Item #1 Approval of the minutes/3/8/93. Janine moved that they be approved. Jason Miller seconded. Agenda Item #2 Administrative comments We discussed sophomore lawyer training, apprenticeship, and beginning duties. A lawyer meeting was scheduled at Sue's house on Monday, May 23. All lawyers were to be required to be there. We will hand out new cases and discuss improving our skills as lawyers. Mandy Baker, Tim Watkins, Ashley McNutt, Laura Garcia, Jason Boyd, Ayn Henderson, Chelsea Gamble, Michelle DiMaggio, Kim King, and Lynn Coakley were to be invited to train to be lawyers. The board agreed to start using sophomores as lawyers this month. Christen made this motion. Ayn seconded it. Ayn volunteered to contact all of those who needed to attend this meeting. Sue wants to meet with lawyers once a month to give them their cases and keep lines of communication open. Agenda Item #3 TCU conference. Sue explained that this would be held Tuesday, April 27. A panel of Teen Court people would speak at a Principal's conference on alternative discipline management. Cathy, Sue, Brad, Buddy, Jason Boyd, Mandy, Jason W., and Kay Held will be on the panel. Agenda Item #4-Money from Womens Club. So far we have received no word on how much we will get. Agenda Item #5- Summer Court. We have tentattvbely set up June Aland August 9 for summer court. It was suggested that we check with churches to help us supply jurors. Agenda Item #6- Penalty for not completing hours. Brad agreed to double the fines for those not completing their hours in the allowed time. We also discussed not bringing a parent to court. This is our local rule. If a defendant does not bring their parent, they cannot be tried and must reschedule their hearing. Agenda Item #7- Adjournment . The meeting was adjourned by Sue .
