Yelverton, City Manager From: Chris Tribble, Director of Community Services Subject: Authorize purchase of construction services for the Bob Jones Park soccer playground from Heartland Park & Recreation, LLC in an amount not to exceed $70,000 Action Requested: City Council authorization to purchase construction services for the Bob Jones Park soccer playground from Heartland Park & Recreation, LLC in an amount not to exceed $70,000 Background Information: The purpose of this item is to seek City Council authorization to purchase construction services for the Bob Jones Park soccer playground from Heartland Park & Recreation, LLC. The design and installation of a new playground and shade structure at the Bob Jones Park soccer fields was a recommendation of the Southlake 2030 Parks, Recreation & Open Space/Community Facilities Master Plan. On December 19, 2017, the City Council approved purchase of the new playground equipment from Play & Park Structures. Play & Park Structures has hired Heartland to demo the current playground structure and install the new equipment. Staff has identified additional site work that needs to be done to the playground area. On May 23, 2018, Heartland provided a quote in the amount of $63,209 for demo lition of an existing concrete wall, installation of new concrete apron, replacement of wro ught iron fencing and installation of new gates. Heartland is affiliated with the TIPS purchasing cooperative of which the City of Southlake is a member. A copy of the quote is attached to this memo. Financial Considerations: Funding for the project in the amount of $500,000 is approved in the FY 2018 CIP through the SPDC and Park Dedication Capital Budgets. It also addresses the City’s critical business outcomes by improving the quality of life through progressive implementation of Southlake’s Comprehensive Plan recommendations.
