REGULAR SESSION
1. CALL TO ORDER
Southlake Arts Council Chairman Leslie Bartlett called the meeting to order at
6:11 p.m.
2. PUBLIC FORUM
Chair Leslie Bartlett opened the Public Forum at 6.11 p.m. There being no one
wishing to address the Arts Council, Chair Bartlett closed the Public Forum.
3. CONSIDER AGENDA
3A. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES FROM THE MARCH 27, 2018 SOUTHLAKE
ARTS COUNCIL MEETING

A motion was made to approve the minutes of the March 27, 2018 Southlake
Arts Council meeting as read.

4. CONSIDER
4A. RECOMMENDATION ON FINAL CONCEPT FOR PUBLIC ART FOR THE
WHITE CHAPEL BOULEVARD AND HIGHLAND STREET ROUNDABOUT
Assistant to the Director and board liaison Cassie Tucker presented Item 4A and
answered Arts Council questions.
Southlake Arts Council reviewed Call to Artists finalists' Seth Vandable, Janice
Hart Melito and Michael McLaughlin concepts proposed for the White Chapel and
Highland Street roundabout.
Artists Michael McLaughlin, Janice Hart Melito and Seth Vandable presented
their respective sculpture concepts to Southlake Arts Council and were available
to answer questions.
Southlake Arts Council favored moving forward with artist Seth Vandable's
"Prairie Winds" concept sculpture with modifications to the chicken's stance to
depict movement. Southlake Arts Council will review the modified version of the
"Prairie Winds" concept at the May meeting, prior to Arts Council making a formal
recommendation to City Council.

A motion was made to recommend artist Seth Vandable's concept plan be
preliminarily approved for the roundabout at White Chapel upon receipt of an
updated drawing with recommended changes as discussed.

5. DISCUSSION
5A. APEX EVENTS UPDATE
Arts Council member and APEX representative Terri Messing provided an
update of upcoming events.
Southlake Arts Council discussed options for the annual September art gallery
reception and exhibit and favored a partnership with Grapevine Art Project,
consisting of regional artists, for the exhibition. A permit to host the September
City of Southlake Values. -

reception and exhibit in Town Hall will be presented for Art Council approval at
an upcoming meeting.
