VARIANCE REQUEST
To: City of Southlake
From: ATA Construction/ Shuck Me Restaurant-Roger Haverkamp
Dear Sir,
We are respectfully asking for a variance on the Masonry Ordinance No. 557 at the
Shuck Me restaurant at 585 Randol Mill in Southlake. We recently opened the
restaurant back in November and have been overwhelmed with the amount of
business and it has far exceeded all expectations. Therefore, we had hoped to
expand more dining area into the unused storage space at the rear of the building.
That being said, we would also need another walk in cooler to support the
expansion. The walk in cooler would adjoin the building on the NE corner which is
the rear left of the building as facing the restaurant from Randol Mill. We are asking
for the masonry variance because there is a wood screen fence to the west of the
proposed cooler at the NW corner of the building, and there is also a wood screen
fence to the east of proposed cooler at the NE corner of the building that blocks it.
Another reason we are asking for the variance is that the vast majority of the
building is all metal, the only portion that is masonry (stone) is across the front and
it is only 8’ tall in that area. Just doesn’t seem to make sense to put stone on a piece
of kitchen equipment that is surrounded by all of the HVAC equipment and is out of
plain sight, especially since the majority of the building is just metal exterior
anyway.
ATA Construction & Shuck Me has taken great pride in taking an old closed down
convenience store that was an eyesore to the community and turning it into one of
the top new restaurants in town. We want to do everything we can to the place to
have good curb appeal, but only where it makes sense. I hope that you will consider
the variance that we are asking for, Sincerely, Rob Wilson-ATA Construction

VARIANCE REQUEST
To: City of Southlake
From: ATA Construction/Shuck Me Restaurant-Roger Haverkamp
Dear Sir,
We are respectfully asking for variances on the following:
1)We are asking for variance on driveway ordinance no. 634. The existing driveway
centerlines do not meet the required 250’ distance. The 2 driveway approaches
were just installed by TX DOT during the Davis Blvd expansion project. We are
asking that they remain as they currently exist.
2)The stacking depth of the existing driveway approaches that were just installed by
TX DOT are basically zero. We are asking for variance on this and for the driveways
to remain as they currently exist.
3)We are asking for variance on perimeter fence ordinance 480 section 39. The
neighbor to the south (Shafqat Rizvi) has erected a 6’ tall solid vinyl PVC fence. The
property to the north and east are owned by the same Foundation (Evelyn Hudson
Foundation) and they have erected a 6’ tall wrought iron and brick column fence on
the north side and a 6’ tall wrought iron fence to the east side. We are asking for
variance as to leave the neighbors fence as it currently exists.
Thank you for consideration on these variances. We are excited to get this proposed
expansion in motion and make a great new restaurant even better for the city of
Southlake and the other surrounding communities, Sincerely, Rob Wilson

LANDSCAPE AGREEMENT:
This is a note to assure the city and homeowners that Roger Haverkamp, owner of
the Shuck Me restaurant, is planning on doing a landscape barrier on the NW corner
of the property of 2204 Camden Circle in Southlake. Roger will have a landscaper
work with the homeowners Leticia Nunez & Leonard Piazza to come up with the
best screening plants possible. We had mentioned evergreens and Nellie R Stevens
as a possibility for planting. Roger has also agreed to put more barrier plantings on
the restaurant side as well. The landscape architect has completed some drawings of
this and those drawings have been forwarded to P&Z today.
Thank You for your consideration, Rob Wilson ATA Construction

PRIVACY FENCE AGREEMENT:
This is a note to assure the city & homeowners that Roger Haverkamp, owner of the
Shuck Me restaurant, is planning on doing an 8’ tall privacy fence for a screening
barrier. The fence would originate from where the proposed new parking lot starts
traveling east to the NE corner of the property owned by Mustafa & Shafqat Rizvi at
565 Randol Mill in Southlake. The revised landscape drawings reflect the 8’ privacy
fence as well.
Thank you for your consideration, Rob Wilson ATA Construction
