rr]CZtS-each year brings the potentia(for violent weather to Texas, and
large portions of our state including the City of Southlake, can
6e devastated 6y flooding, tornadoes, had storms, straight fine
winds and other severe emergencies; and,
Whereas, the City of Southfake, the Te)gs Division of Emergency Management, the
National 'Weather Service and the Tederaf Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
have joined together to urge all citizens to prepare for severe weather events and to
educate themselves on safety strategies; and,
Whereas, white storms can strike at any time of year, the months of March, Aprif and
May 6ring a greater potentia( for violent weather events. Planning, preparation and
day-to-day awareness can greatly reduce foss of fife and property during severe weather
events; now,
2Wore, I, Mayor Laura Yfi1, on 6ehaff of the City Council, do hereby proclaim March
18-24, 2018, as
"Severe WeatherAwarenessWeek"
and urge everyone in our community to learn more a6out and to participate in severe
weather preparedness activities available in the City of Southfake.
