March 1, 2018
TO: Shana K. Yelverton, City Manager
FROM: Chris Tribble, Director of Community Services
SUBJECT: Consider request from Southlake Girls Lacrosse Association
for a Facilities Utilization Agreement
Action Requested: City Council consideration of a request from the Southlake
Girls Lacrosse Association (SGLA) for a Facilities Utilization
Agreement.
Background
Information: The City partners with several athletic associations to
provide youth athletic programming to the Southlake
community.
Currently, the City has an existing Facilities Utilization
Agreement (FUA) with the Southlake Carroll Lacrosse
Association (SCLA) who offers lacrosse for boys and girls.
Recently, the City was approached by the Southlake Girls
Lacrosse Association (SGLA) requesting a FUA for a girls
lacrosse program.
The Parks & Recreation Board discussed the request at a
meeting on November 13, 2017, and during a Work Session
held November 28, 2017. On December 11, 2017, the Parks
& Recreation Board recommended approval (5-0) of the
requested FUA for a term of one year.
If the City Council approves moving forward with a FUA with
SGLA, the agreement details would need to be worked out
by staff and the City Attorney due to the wholesale
reorganization of the process.
Financial
Considerations: The SGLA would pay field maintenance fees of $12.00 per
resident per season and $17.00 per non-resident per season
to assist the City with offsetting a portion of the maintenance
and operations costs.
