2. Agenda Item No. 2. Public Forum: – This is the public's opportunity to address the
Commission about non-agenda items. During Public Forum, the Commission will not
discuss, consider, or take action on any item presented. The Commissions' options
during this topic are 1) to listen, 2) ask questions and respond to the presenter only,
3) request staff to look into the issue and report back to the Commission and/or 4)
request that the Chair put the item on a future agenda for the Commission to discuss
or consider.

3. Agenda Item No. 3. Reports:
The dates for quarterly oral reports by Community Services Organizations have
changed. The 2018 quarterly oral reports will be provided at the February, May,
August and November meetings.
A. Metroport Meals On Wheels – A copy of the October/November cumulative
MMOW report is included in your packet.
B. Call A Ride Southlake – A copy of the November cumulative CARS report is
included in your packet.
C. City Manager’s Office – Assistant to the City Manager Lauren LaNeave will
update the Commission on upcoming Leaf Recycling dates . Ms. LaNeave will
be presenting results of the Citizen Satisfaction Survey to the Commission at
your February meeting. No packet documents.

1. CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Beverly Blake called the meeting of the Senior Advisory Commission to
order at 1:00 p.m.
New Senior Advisory Commission members David Barnes and Kathryn Orler were
introduced and welcomed to the Commission.
2. PUBLIC FORUM – Chair Beverly Blake opened Public Forum.
Patty Howell, 625 Southview Trail, Southlake, expressed concerns regarding
proposed membership fees for The Marq Southlake Champions Club in comparison
with other cities’ membership fees.
Bernie McCauley, 900 Wild Wood, Southlake, former Senior Advisory Commission
member, spoke about her application to the Commission; the parking lot sizes at The
Marq; guest speakers for Commission meetings; and membership fee charges to
Champions Club for current Senior Center members.

Chair Blake acknowledged the Public Forum comments and concerns. It was noted
the parking lot issues had been addressed at the previous Senior Advisory
Commission meeting. There was no further direction to staff based on the comments.
There being no one else to address the Commission, Public Forum was closed.
3. REPORTS
3A. METROPORT MEALS ON WHEELS
There was no report this meeting. A copy of the September MMOW report was
included in the meeting packet.
3B. CALL A RIDE SOUTHLAKE
There was no report this meeting. A copy of the October cumulative CARS report
was included in the meeting packet.
3C. CITY MANAGER’S OFFICE
Director Chris Tribble and Deputy Director Candice Edmondson provided the
Commission information about the City’s Leaf Recycling Program.
3D. COMMUNITY SERVICES
Hospitality & Sales Manager Tiffany Irwin presented an overview of the October
Senior Activity Center Membership Report.
Deputy Director of Community Services Candice Edmondson updated the
Commission on the City’s annual Home for the Holidays event coming up on
November 18, 2017.
3E. SENIOR SERVICES
Senior Services Coordinator Soheila Mashat-Phelps reported on participation at
recent senior programs, including the recent Active Shooter presentation, and plans
for the upcoming holiday activities. An additional yoga class has been added to the
weekly schedule in response to the popularity of the program.

Commission and are enacted with one motion.
