Yelverton, City Manager From: Chris Tribble, Director of Community Services Subject: Approve purchase of playground equipment and shade structure for Bob Jones Park from Play & Park Structures in an amount not to exceed $264,526 Action Requested: City Council approval of the purchase of playground equipment and shade structure for Bob Jones Park from Play & Park Structures through the BuyBoard Cooperative Purchasing contract in an amount not to exceed $264,526 Background Information: The purpose of this item is to seek City Council approval to purchase playground equipment and a shade structure for Bob Jones Park from Play & Park Structures through the BuyBoard Cooperative State Purchasing Contract of which the City of Southlake is a member. The design and installation of a new playground and shade structure at the Bob Jones Park soccer fields was a recommendation of the Southlake 2030 Parks, Recreation & Open Space/Community Facilities Master Plan. In addition, during an annual inspection last year, the playground did not meet minimum safety standards and some play elements had to be removed. On December 12, 2017, Play & Park Structures submitted a quote for materials and installation of the playground equipment and shade structure, meeting the City’s specifications and design for the project, in the amount of $264,526. Funding for the project in the amount of $500,000 is approved in the FY 2018 CIP through the SPDC and Park Dedication Budgets. In addition, the City is the recipient of the “Community Heroes” grant from Play & Park structures in the amount of $110,000, which will offset costs for the playground equipment. A copy of the quote and grant award certificate is attached to this memo. 4D - 1 Shana Yelverton, City Manager Meeting Date – December 19, 2017 Page 2 of 2 City of Southlake Values: Integrity ♦ Innovation ♦ Accountability ♦ Commitment to Excellence ♦ Teamwork Financial Considerations: This request is funded through the FY 2018 Capital Improvement Project budget.
