1. CALL TO ORDER
A. Welcome and Introduction of Members and Staff
Youth Services Librarian Stacy Wells called the meeting of the Southlake Library
Board to order at 6:09 p.m. She introduced herself and asked Board members to
briefly introduce themselves and tell why there were interested in serving as a
Library Board member.
2. CONSIDERATON
A. Election of Chair and Vice -Chair for 2017-2018
Youth Librarian Wells said chair elections was on the agenda and the Board
could elect to table this item until all members are present for the vote. Motion
was carried to table election to the next meeting as to include all board members.

3. CONSENT
Consent Agenda items are considered to be routine by the Southlake Library
Board and are enacted with one motion.
3A. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES FROM THE SEPTEMBER 27, 2017
SOUTHLAKE LIBRARY BOARD MEETING.

4. REPORTS
4A. LIBRARIAN'S REPORT
Youth Librarian Wells reviewed the October statistics and reviewed figures that
were up and variances in digital traffic. She noted cloud library figures are up
over the last year. She said that adult programming was up by 52% since more
programs were offered and youth programming was also up. Youth Librarian
Wells will look into clarification regarding the digital traffic breakdown with the
City Librarian. There was discussion about online library programming for
students and advertising of books online.
5. DISCUSSION
5A. Library Performance
Youth Librarian Wells discussed the circulation percentages and discussed the
turn ratio for books in the Library and noted that Southlake has a high -turn rate.
She said that the young adult graphic novels section will be expanded because
they are in high -demand.
5B. Library Site Analysis
Youth Librarian Wells provided the Library survey report done by Hidell &
Associates and briefly discussed the Library site analysis and options. She said
overall citizens are satisfied with the Library but there are several areas for

improvement and noted the options. Ms. Wells will email a video link of the
Carillon project to the board members for their review.
6. PUBLIC FORUM
Youth Librarian Wells opened the public forum at 7:00 p.m. and asked for anyone
wishing to speak to come forward. There being no questions, the public forum
was closed at 7.00 p.m.
7. ADJOURNMENT
The Library Board elected to move the next meeting to December 13 instead of
December 27, 2017.
The meeting was adjourned by Youth Librarian Wells at 7:07 p.m.
