Rollins, PE of counsel Gene Schrickel (1927-2005) RE: Cover Letter for the North Park Wall Ball Court Project Site Plan — Preliminary Submittal Department of Planning and Development Services: Schrickel, Rollins and Associates, Inc, is the authorized representative/applicant for the North Park Wall Ball Court Site Plan application. The court is located on the northeast corner of Dove Road and White Chapel Boulevard at 100 East Dove Road in the City of Southlake, Texas. The property is approximately ±12 acres of existing City -owned property that contains the DPS North Facility (Fire Services, Training Classrooms & Firing Range), concrete hike & bike trail, vehicular drives and parking. The eastern edge of the property abuts a 70ft. Texas Power & Light Transmission Easement. The property is currently zoned "SP1" (Detailed Site Plan). The Site Plan Application includes the following proposed improvements to North Park: 1. One (1) lighted, synthetic turf Wall Ball Court. 2. A concrete walk will provide access to the court. 3. Irrigation will be provided for the area surrounding the court, and will tie into the existing North Park irrigation system. Two (2) variances are requested with the Site Plan Application. Following are the requested variances: 1. Variance for the Sports Lighting Design at the North Park Wall Ball Court. a. Section 4 of Lighting Design in the Ordinance Requirements for Outdoor Lighting states that luminaires on poles over 42" height must not have more than 4300 degrees Kelvin. We request that the sports lighting at the North Park Wall Ball Court be allowed to be constructed with lighting that matches the adjacent, existing sports lighting within the North Park property of 4500 degrees Kelvin. 2. Variance for the Sports Lighting Design at the North Park Wall Ball Court. a. We request that the sports lighting at the North Park Wall Ball Court be allowed to be constructed with lighting levels that provide a safe environment for the user/player and that is no greater than the adjacent, existing sports lighting within the North Park property.
