The purpose of assessing the condition of City water valves is for emergency preparedness to ensure their proper operation in the event of a possible crisis. Being able to quickly locate
and operate water valves allows Public Works to isolate and shut off the flow of water in a particular line segment that may otherwise cause flooding and property damage during an emergency.

field activity. This program documents and integrates operational physical information. In addition, a preliminary leak survey is performed at each valve to minimize water loss.
