This is Candice Edmondson and I am presenting Item 4H for your consideration. 1 Requested Action City Council approval of purchases with A-Turf for installation of synthetic turf surfacing at Bob Jones Park for an amount not to exceed $55,000 With this item staff is seeking City Council approval of purchases with A-Turf for installation of synthetic turf surfacing at Bob Jones Park for an amount not to exceed $55,000 2 Background Information Improvements at Bob Jones Park Softball Batting Cages Cricket Pitch Installation of synthetic turf surfacing SPDC Matching Funds projects In FY 2018, the Parks Division will be completing two (2) projects that require the installation of synthetic turf surfacing. These projects are improvements to the softball batting cages and cricket pitch at Bob Jones Park, which were both previously approved through the SPDC Matching Funds program. 3 A-Turf Contract Provided estimates for both projects totaling $53,591 $43,183 for softball batting cages $10,408 for cricket pitch NJPA Cooperative Purchasing Vendor Satisfies bid requirements for City of Southlake and State of Texas A-Turf, an industry leader of synthetic athletic surfaces, has submitted estimates for materials and installation on both projects in the total amount of $53,591. The estimates include $43,183 for the softball batting cages and $10,408 for the cricket pitch.   A-Turf is an approved vendor with NJPA cooperative purchasing and may provide athletic surfaces through NJPA Contract #082114-CTP. Use of the cooperative purchasing agreement satisfies bid requirements for both the City of Southlake and State of Texas 4 A-Turf Facts Founded in 2002 Located throughout the US Known for building and installing premier athletic fields for all competitive levels across the nation Synthetic turf partner for Miracle League A-Turf was founded in 2002 and is headquartered in Western New York, with sales offices and installation crews located throughout the United States. A-Turf has a strong reputation for building and installing premier athletic fields across the nation. They have completed projects for little league baseball fields, college and high school athletic fields, professional football stadiums and indoor practice facilities. A-Turf is The Miracle League’s exclusive synthetic turf partner. 5 Financial Considerations Purchase exceeds $50,000 and requires City Council approval Funding available in the FY 2018: Parks General Fund SPDC Fund Since the combined cost of the athletic surfacing in the estimates exceeds $50,000, City Council’s approval is required per the City’s purchasing guidelines.
