Requested: City Council approval of the donation of the "Back the Blue"
painting from Deanna Kienast
Background
Information: The City of Southlake recently received an offer from Deanna
Kienast to donate her painting, "Back the Blue," to the City's public
art collection. The piece is currently on display in the Southlake
Town Hall lobby as a part of the "Waves of Color" exhibit. If
accepted, the "Police" themed piece will be hung in the Community
Room at DPS Headquarters after the exhibit concludes on
November 3rd° 2017. An image of the piece is attached.
The proposed donation complies with the current Public Art Display
and/or Performance Policy, and a copy of the donation application
is attached for your review.
In reviewing a potential donation, City Council may consider the
aesthetic quality (including craftsmanship), compatibility with the
City's existing public art collection and future costs associated with
accepting the donation.
Financial
Considerations: There is no additional cost to the City for acceptance and
placement of the proposed donated painting.
No future costs are anticipated, and no annual funds will be
allocated to maintaining the painting. However; if upon annual
inspection, the painting's condition warrants repair or attention, cost

for maintenance of the painting will be established and included for
budget approval.

Request: Southlake artist Deanne Kienast would like to donate a painting to the City's public art
collection. The theme of the painting is "Back the Blue." A copy of the painting is attached for
consideration.
