4. ADMINISTRATIVE COMMENTS
Senior Director, Ken Baker, announced that there will be a Meet the Mayor held at the
Methodist Southlake Hospital, on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 5:30 P.M.
Senior Director, Ken Baker, announced that there will be a Corridor Planning Committee
meeting, on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 5:30 P.M.

5. CONSIDER: RESOLUTION NO. 17-030, ZA17-052, SPECIFIC USE PERMIT FOR
ELECTRICAL VEHICLE CHARGING SPACES ON PROPERTY DESCRIBED AS
LOT 4R, BLOCK 2R1, SOUTHLAKE TOWN SQUARE ADDITION, CITY OF
SOUTHLAKE, TARRANT COUNTY, TEXAS AND LOCATED AT 1240 MAIN

Applicant, Christina Suarez, 5885 Meadows Drive, Ste. 700, Lake Oswego, Oregon,
and David Ayer, Town Square Ventures, opened for questions.
Commission addressed their concerns with the amount of charging stations that will be
installed in the Town Square parking spaces.
Chairman Forman opened the public hearing.
Rick Boller, 551 East Dove Road, came forward to speak in support of the proposed
Tesla charging stations.
Chairman Forman closed the public hearing.
Commission continued to discuss the proposed charging stations.
A motion was made to approve ZA17-052; subject to the Staff Report dated September
15, 2017; further subject to the Specific Use Permit Review Staff Review Summary No.
2 dated August. 11, 2017; further noting the length of the specific use permit will be tied
to the lease that will be in full force and effect with the tenant, Tesla in Town Square,
including any extensions or options periods; and further noting the applicant’s
willingness, at the City Council meeting, to show an alternate revised plan that only
includes five (5) spaces versus 10 spaces; however noting that the Planning and Zoning
Commission is approving the full request in the staff report with 10 spaces.

questions.
Commission discussed their concerns with the applicant regarding the enclosed
structure.
Vice Chairman Kubiak asked the applicant if Protein Fit Kitchen has been opened for
business.
Applicant confirmed that they have been open for about a month.
Commission continued to discuss the proposed site plan with the applica nt.
Commission addressed their concerns with the structures and how they will look in the
future.
Applicant stated that they would be responsible for maintaining and keeping the
structures clean.

questions and gave a brief presentation.
Commission continued to discuss their concerns with the applicant regarding the land
use changes.

A motion was made to approve ZA17-043; subject to the Staff Report dated September
21, 2017, and Revised Site Plan Review Summary No. 3, dated September 21, 2017;
specifically approving the two variances requested related to the driveway ord inance;
however noting that the applicant has agreed that for his presentation to City Council,
he will be willing to eliminate at least two spaces on either side of the southernmost
entrance to the property off Kimball, and will include that in his materials, additionally
noting that any mechanicals will not be allowed along Kimball, any mechanicals that are
on the side of the buildings, but still visible from Kimball will be appropriately screened;
also noting the applicant’s willingness at the Chairman’s request to consider bulking up
his landscape along Kimball for his application for City Council; and lastly, noting the
applicant’s willingness to show an alternative site p lan that includes access off
Highland Street.
