Item 5 BahaiCelebrating The Bicentenary of The Birth of Bahá'u'lláh Bahá'u'lláh is the Prophet - Founder of the Bahá'í Faith Bahá'u'lláh was born on October 22, 1817 1 The Bahá'í Faith is the youngest of the world’s independent religions. Bahá'ís believe in ONE GOD, that all religions therefore worship the same GOD and derive their inspiration from one Source. Yet God’s Teachings revealed by His Messengers at different times continue to guide the growth and education of humanity. Bahá'ís believe that Bahá'u'lláh, is the most recent in the line of Divine Messengers of God that stretches back beyond recorded time and includes Abraham, Moses, Buddha, Zoroaster, Krishna, Jesus Christ and Muhammad. Bahá'ís refer to this as “Progressive Revelation”. 2 Bahá'í Principles – •the abandonment of all forms of prejudice  •achievement of full equality between women and men •recognition of the unity of religious truth •the elimination of extremes of poverty and wealth •the realization of universal education •that each person should independently search for truth •the establishment of a global commonwealth of nations •recognition that true religion is in harmony with reason and the pursuit of scientific knowledge 3 Quotations from Bahá'u'lláh – The earth is but one country, and mankind its citizens. Ye are the fruits of one tree, and the leaves of one branch. Deal ye one with another with the utmost love and harmony, with friendliness and fellowship. He Who is the Daystar of Truth beareth Me witness! So powerful is the light of unity that it can illuminate the whole earth.  4 5
