3A. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES FROM THE FEBRUARY 1, 2017 CRIME CONTROL AND PREVENTION
DISTRICT BOARD MEETING APPROVED 7-0
A typo was noted under 3D for correction - the word "cont4ract" change to contract.

discussed possible strategy language and directed staff to move forward with publishing

3D CONSIDER RESOLUTION No. 17-02 CANVASS THE RETURNS AND DECLARE THE RESULTS OF THE
SPECIAL ELECTION HELD ON MAY 6, 2017. APPROVED 7-0
imam Resolution No 17-02 was read by President K McMillan Voters approved to continue the
Crime Control and Prevention District and the crime control and prevention district sales tax for
20 years The CCPD would be effective until April 30, 2038

NORTH PROPERTY ADJACENT TO NORTH PARK. APPROVED 7-0

adjacent to North Park.

4. DISCUSSION:
4A. UPDATE ON CRIME CONTROL& PREVENTION DISTRICT SALES TAX
Sharen Jackson reviewed the sales tax handout. She informed the Board that sales tax
collected for February 2017 was below budget due to a one time budget adjustment per the
Comptroller Collections are trending above budget for the year net the amount of the onetime
correction
4B. UPDATE ON SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER PROGRAM
Chief Brandon informed the Board that all schools are still fully staffed and that the program is
running smoothly Second quarter stats were shared with the Board Members
4C. DISCUSSION OF UPCOMING PUBLIC SAFETY NEEDS.
Proposed public safety equipment need for the upcoming fiscal year was presented by Chief
Brandon A proposed financial impact of$238,619 to include
1 $20,000 Relocation of radio repeater, to include removal and reinstallation
2. $92,723 Rifle rated body armor for all Southlake police officers
3 $47,550 Watch guard server storage - an increase for the next 5 years of usable
space
4 $11,995 Eight additional body cameras plus equipment
5 $6,573 Two ballistic shields for Patrol
6 $12,529 Replacement of eight sets of heavy body armor used by SWAT officers
7 $7,782 Replacement of eight SWAT radio headsets
8 $23,734 Replacement Tasers & cartridges— require replacement every 5 years
(20 Tasers)
9 $3,615 Two less lethal shotguns for Patrol
10 $1,680 Simunition (weapon system) safety headgear used for protection during
training
11 $5,190 Replacement of two laser radars— current ones are aging and requiring
repair
12 $5,248 Replacement of the laser measurement mapping station — used to
precisely recreate serious vehicle crashes and crime scenes — utilizes a
dedicated computer & program — current system is old and requiring
repair
