Good evening Mayor and members of the City Council. This is Jenni Lanier and I am presenting Item 4C, which is the consideration of an extension to a historical photographs exhibit
in Town Hall lobby.

Proposed extension through Sept 30, 2020, contingent
upon space and time
The purpose of this item is to seek City Council approval to extend the permit for the Southlake Historical Society Permanent Collection exhibit. The exhibit was formerly known as “A
Walk Through Time: Historical Photographs of Southlake,” and featured photographs from Southlake’s history. The proposed extended exhibit would be displayed in Town Hall lobby through
September 30, 2020, contingent upon available space and time.

Permit Background – Historical Art Exhibit
On June 16, 2015 City Council approved a permit from Southlake Arts Council and the Southlake Historical Society to allow the art gallery exhibit, “A Walk Through Time: Historical Photographs
of Southlake” to be displayed in the Town Hall lobby area September 10, 2015 – October 23, 2015.
On November 3, 2015 City Council approved an extension of the permit to allow the display
in Town Hall lobby area until September 30, 2016.
The art exhibit promotes the City of Southlake’s rich history and culture. Southlake Historical Society requested an extension of the
permit until September 30, 2020 for the exhibit in Southlake Town Hall lobby.

Exhibit may be temporarily removed for other exhibits
Extension complies with Public
Art Display and Performance Policy
The Southlake Historical Society Permanent Collection exhibit will be managed and maintained by the City of Southlake staff liaison to the Southlake Arts Council and Southlake Historical
Society. The Southlake Historical Society Permanent Collection exhibit may be temporarily taken down and stored, allowing for temporary exhibits in Town Hall Lobby. Following the end
of temporary exhibits, the Southlake Historical Society Permanent Collection exhibit will be restored.
An extension of the exhibit complies with provisions of the Public Art Display
and Performance Policy that allows City Council to approve an extension.

No additional cost for extension
Financial Considerations
There is no additional cost to the City for the extended art exhibit.

City Council consideration April 18, 2017
Board/Council Review
Southlake Arts Council recommended approval (4-0-1) of the extension at their March 28, 2017 meeting. The abstention was by Tamara McMillan because she is currently a member of Southlake
Historical Society.
