Discuss the fee schedule for Existing Commercial Building For Sale/Leasing Signs

Good evening Mayor and members of the City Council.
The purpose of this work session item is for City Council to discuss and establish the fee schedule for existing commercial building
for sale/leasing signs

Background
October 4, 2016 – City Council amended the Sign Ordinance and approved a $100 permit fee for each applicable sign
December 6, 2016 – Work Session held to reconsider fee for this sign
type; established temporary fee and staff directed to inventory existing signs

Purpose
City Council to establish a fee for existing commercial building for sale/leasing signs
Once fee option is selected, staff will place the fee schedule on a future City Council agenda
to be amended

Sign Inventory
79 existing commercial for sale/leasing signs
37 different leasing companies represented
Two (2) signs to be removed

Temporary Fee in Place
Applicant pays a $100 flat fee for a single existing commercial building for sale/leasing sign;
$200 flat fee for two or more signs;
Permit good for one year from time of payment;
Applicant
re-registers applicable signage with the City each year

Options / Next Steps
Option 1 – Keep the fee as it is now
Option 2 – Applicant pays a $100 fee for each sign meeting this criteria
Option 3 – Establish a new fee structure
