Re: ZA15-149
Verizon Wireless
Southeast comer of Highland Street and Carroll Avenue
Dear Plaming Staff:
Verizon Wireless proposes to construct an antema facility that will improve ce11ular service to
the area around Highland Street and Carroll Avenue. The demand for telecommunication
Services from mobile telephone users is constantly increasing. In order to improve service and
help to lessen the antemas’appearance Verizon Wireless attempts to use existing structures or to
alter existing structures in a minimal way to add antemas to the area. This request by replacing
an existing light structure at a Carro11 SchooI District sports field will provide improved service
While minimizing the visual impact ofthe antemas. The ground equipment compound wi11 be
approximately 1 75 feet to the east ofthe light standard that will hold the antemas. The ground
equlPment Will be surrounded by a brick wall. The brick will match the brick on the school
building. We are requesting a variance to the landscape ordinance since the equlPment Will be
SurrOunded by a masorlry Wall but the light standard will not.
The site is on the south side ofa sports field. The equlPment area is east ofthe light standard to
eliminate any interference with the sports field・ There will be no parking space at the equlPment
area. We are requesting a variance to the requlrement for a parking space. The occasional
access to the site after it is constructed will not requlre a SeParate Parking space from the existing
Parking.
Verizon Wireless has operated a cellular telephone system serving the Southlake community for
many years. The city depends on a reliable system・ The system is constantly monitored and
improved when necessary.
Attached to this request are propagation maps that show the technical improved coverage that
this facility wi11 provide. System users in this general area will have improved service through
faster comections, downloads of data and signal strength for their devices.
We are requesting a variance to the landscape regulations as this site. There will be a wall
SurrOunding the equlPment. This wall will fu11y hide the equlPment・ We wi11 have a ten-foot
masonry wall around the equlPment・ The pole that will hold the existing light rack and the
antemas will not have any fencing around it. This is the current condition at this light standard
and the other light standards around the field. There will be no dedicated parking space at the
site.
Thank you for the opportunity to work with your city to improve Verizon Wireless service.
