I'm writing in support of ZA16-103, the proposed zoning change to allow Vehicle Sales & Demonstrations in the Downtown District, along with the proposal to add six Tesla charging stations to Southlake Town Square. Regarding Vehicle Sales & Demonstrations: Southlake Town Square is a great location for electric car demonstrations. Northeast Tarrant County has among the highest electric vehicle densities in North Texas and being able to learn about electric cars without having to go to Dallas or Fort Worth will be a great benefit to potential owners. If the location is a Tesla Gallery, I expect it will be a big draw and another positive for Southlake, consistent with Southlake 2030 and regional air quality initiatives. Regarding Electric Vehicle Charging: https:l/mail.google.com/mail/WOI?ui=2&ik=178f934086&view=pl&q=tesla&qs=true&search=query&msg=15a19a94eb8132b8&siml=15al9a94eb8132b6 1/4 y 2!7/2017 Ci.southlake.N.us Mail - Fwd: Support For & Information Regarding Proposed Vehicle Sales & Demonstrations & Tesla Charging In addition to local owners, opportunistically charging while they shop, there are also long distance travelers who need to charge to make their trip possible. For example, Austin to Southlake and back is just out of range for most Teslas. Because there is little public charging infrastructure in Tarrant County, private citizens make their personal charging stations available to other owners. There are more than twenty private Tesla chargers available to share in Northeast Tarrant County — a huge demand indicator. Tesla charging also desirable because it is faster than other electric vehicle charging, like the new Chargepoint chargers installed in the West Parking Garage — a Tesla charger can add up to fifty-eight range miles per charging hour, while other chargers typically add a quarter the range. Thank you for your consideration. I will attend the City Council meeting tonight, as well as the public hearing on February 7. I'm happy to discuss electric vehicle charging at any time between now and then.
