Madam Mayor, members of the City Council… The purpose of this item is to approve annual budgeted telecom expenses for Verizon Wireless services in the amount of $129,000.
This item
is due to purchasing policy requiring Council approval for single-vendor spending that exceeds $50,000.

High Level Description
Verizon Wireless is the City’s primary vendor for wireless services for DPS mobile vehicles, mobile support staff, and EOC operations. With the increasing requirement for mobility,
wireless services will continue to grow in all areas and departments as well as enabling the City Council.

Cost Breakdown
Council approved the FY2016 budget for Verizon services (General Fund) for $132,000
With consolidation and upgrades the projected in-budget expenses are $129,000
Council approved an FY 2015 budget of $148,000 for Verizon Wireless services.
With streamlining and consolidation efforts we continue to reduce cost while maintaining a high level of
customer service.
The projected expenses for FY2016 is $129,000 within the approved budget of $132,000.
