Subject: Item 4F: Approve the proposed revisions to the Critical
Business Outcomes on the City's Strategy Map.
Action
Requested: Approve the proposed revisions to the Critical Business
Outcomes on the City's Strategy Map.
Background
Information: This item incorporates changes to the City's strategy map.
The proposed changes include a new slate of Critical
Business Outcomes on the attached map. The Critical
Business Outcomes of the strategy map are reviewed by
City Council every two to three years because of their short
term focus.
On February 9 City Council held their annual Winter
Workshop and discussed updating the Critical Business
Outcomes. Staff led the City Council through a survey
exercise before the workshop and presented the results at
the February 9th meeting. After some discussion the
following statements were agreed upon:
• CB01 — Maintain a strong financial position and
implement plans and policies to ensure future financial
strength.
• CB02— Enhance mobility through aggressive traffic
management initiatives and capital project
implementation.
• CB03— Engage in thoughtful planning to ensure
continued high quality development that is integrated well
into the current built environment.
• CB04 — Optimize the City's commercial tax base by
attracting high quality new businesses to reduce the tax
burden on residential taxpayers.

• CBO5— Improve quality of life through progressive
implementation of South/ake's Comprehensive Plan
recommendations.
• CBO6— Invest to maintain strong public safety to ensure
a low crime rate and effective emergency response.

Consideration: Not applicable at this time.
Strategic Link: The City's strategy map is the communication tool that
articulates the City Council's overall strategic direction to
staff, as well as the community. Revisions to this map will set
the priorities for City departments' business plan,
subsequent work plans, and annual budget requests.
