PROJECT: Site Plan for Trinity Presbyterian Church
EXECUTIVE
SUMMARY:
On behalf of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Rachel Peters (Trinity Presbyterian Church)
is requesting approval of a Site Plan a playground shade structure with metal posts
and a fabric shade material over existing playground equipment at Trinity Presbyterian
Church located at 1452 W. Southlake Blvd., Southlake, Texas. The current zoning is
“CS” Community Service District. SPIN Neighborhood #6.
REQUEST
DETAILS:
Trinity Presbyterian Church is requesting approval of a Site Plan for Lot 3R, Block 6,
Southridge Lakes Addition, for a playground shade structure with metal posts and a
fabric shade material over existing playground equipment. The applicant has stated in
their project narrative that a private preschool, Trinity Private Preschool, is operated
year-round at this site and that with the church and school activities, the playground is
used almost daily. The applicant noted that there is not currently any shade over the
playground equipment, so the hot summer months pose a risk to the children for heat.
Additionally, the applicant noted that shade structures for playgrounds protect children
from skin cancer risk by blocking up to 98% of the harmful UV rays, offering maximum
protection from the sun.
According to a drawing of the shade structure provided by the applicant, the size of the
structure is 46.6’ x 29’ x 13’. The support posts are 13’ and the overall height is
approximately 18.7’ with the structure being approximately 1351 square feet.
