City Librarian Pfledderer said that the City is developing a cost recovery policy
that works for all the Community Service divisions. She said that because the
Library generally falls under basic services, we cannot charge for any services.
The Library does seek sponsorship to cover costs for some programs but not for
basic services. This will come before the Board soon for review.

4. REPORTS
4A. Librarian's Report
Library Statistics
City Librarian Pfledderer said that the printed statistics were updated to show the
Holiday Open House and adult program activity for the last month. She said
collection is down mainly because of our digital statistics (EBSCO and Bookflix).
These are primarily used by schools. She reviewed the various statistics and the
normal fluctuations.
5. DISCUSSION
5A. Small Business Workshops
City Librarian Pfledderer reminded the Board that the Library received a $7,100
grant from the Texas State Library for small business workshops that will help
people learn to start and grow their own business. She said that she is getting
positive feedback from citizens for this type of programming. A survey is
provided to the attendees and there is a huge response and high satisfaction
rate. The Economic Development Director and the Chamber of Commerce want
to work with the Library and would like for the Library to continue to offer more
workshops like this. The Library will try to get support through sponsorships to
fund additional workshops. Board Member Dhanani asked if we knew how many
were female versus male participants and what the age groups were. City
Librarian will look into the numbers.
5B. Sponsorships
City Librarian Pfledderer presented a draft of the sponsorship packet that we plan
to send out the beginning of the month. She said if we get $2,500 in sponsorship
then we can move forward with additional small business workshops. Briggs
Freeman is a sponsor and they are contributing an additional $500 this year for a
total of $2,500. Cash is preferred to in-kind gifts, which can sometimes not be a
