Item 4L Appointment of the Southlake Community Enhancement and Development Corporation as the Advisory Board to oversee the development of Southlake 2035 Economic Development and Tourism Plans Item 4L 1 Item 4L – Appointment of 2035 EDT Advisory Board Resolution No. 15-044 Created Type A Economic Development Corporation - Southlake Community Enhancement & Development Corporation October 20, 2015 Promote Economic Development New and Expanded Business Enterprises Fund the Construction and Operation of The Marq Southlake CEDC consists of 7 City Council appointed Directors Current Directors: John Terrell - President Martin Schelling - Vice-President Suzanne Maisto – Secretary Jeff Wang Robert Mundlin John Thane One (1) Director appointment currently vacant Southlake Community Enhancement and Development Corporation 2 Item 4L – Appointment of 2035 EDT Advisory Board Staff to initiate updates to the Economic Development and Tourism elements of the City’s Comprehensive Plan Updates to these elements will be the first components of the Southlake 2035 Comprehensive Plan Update Given the related economic development purpose of the Southlake Community Enhancement and Development Corporation (CEDC), staff recommends City Council appoint the CEDC to serve as the advisory board to the City Council with regard to the plan update Background and staff recommendation 3 Item 4L – Appointment of 2035 EDT Advisory Board Meetings would be scheduled to accommodate member’s schedules and in accordance with CEDC by-laws Meetings typically held on weeknights (Monday – Thursday) between 5 PM and 7 PM Meetings are open to the public and will be properly posted and noticed through various means including an agenda, social media, etc. Meeting Schedule 4 Item 4L – Appointment of 2035 EDT Advisory Board The CEDC will produce and forward a report of recommendations regarding the Economic Development and Tourism plan elements to both the Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council for consideration Final Product / Outcome 5 Questions: Ken Baker - (817) 748-8067 6
