Item 4H Facilities Utilization Agreement with Southlake Baseball Association Item 4H Item 4H is the renewal of a Facilities Utilization Agreement with the Southlake Baseball Association. 1 Approval of FUA for Southlake Baseball Association (SBA) Requested Action The purpose of this item is to seek City Council’s approval of a two-year Facilities Utilization Agreements (FUA) with Southlake Baseball Association. 2 Background Information The City coordinates to provide youth athletic leagues for residents with six Southlake youth athletic associations Use of City fields authorized through FUA Separate agreement with each association FUAs revised to update and clarify provisions The City coordinates with various youth athletic associations to offer a variety of youth athletic leagues through an arrangement referred to as a facilities utilization agreement (FUA). Separate agreements are held with each association participating in the use of City-owned fields and facilities. Revisions have been made to the proposed FUA to clarify and update the language to reflect current practice. 3 Southlake Baseball Association FUA TERM Jan 1, 2016 – Dec 31, 2017 The proposed FUA with Southlake Baseball Association will provide athletic fields for the youth athletic program for 2016 and 2017. 'Game' fields for Baseball  Added 'Non-Priority' Use of Miracle League Field for Baseball  Separated Spring/Summer Classic Season into two separate seasons (Spring Classic and Summer Classic) 5 Financial Considerations SBA will pay field maintenance fees to assist the City with offsetting a portion of the maintenance and operations costs. At a November 15, 2010 FUA Work Shop, the fees were established by representatives from each of the associations. It also addresses Critical Business Outcome 5 – optimize resources through collaboration and partnerships to reduce costs and add service value. 7 Meetings held with SBA representatives regarding proposed FUA and changes to management of tournaments Park Board recommended approval (7-0) Nov 9, 2015 City Council consideration Nov 17, 2015 Citizen / Board Review A copy of the proposed FUA was included in your packet for consideration. The proposed FUA has been reviewed by SBA and was recommended for approval by the Park Board 11/9/15. Staff recommends approval of the proposed Facilities Utilization Agreement with Southlake Baseball Association for 2016-17 and asks for City Council’s consideration at this time. 8 Questions?
