Item 4A Item 4A is a request for SPDC Matching Funds from The Miracle League of Southlake. 1 Requested Action Consider SPDC Matching Funds 100% match of $2,000 SPDC is being asked to consider the SPDC Matching Funds request from The Miracle League of Southlake for a 100% match of a cash contribution of $2,000 towards the construction cost of the Texas Rangers Miracle League Field in Bicentennial Park 2 Miracle Field The development of a Texas Rangers Miracle League Field is included in the Bicentennial Park Master Plan adopted by the City Council on September 18, 2012, and within the 2030 Parks, Recreation & Open Space/Community Facilities Master Plan adopted by the City Council on March 19, 2013. The field was constructed as part of Phase II of the Bicentennial Park redevelopment. A dedication ceremony for Bicentennial Park Phase II was held May 16, 2015, to feature the Texas Rangers Miracle League Field. 3 SPDC Matching Funds $50,000 (Sept 2012) $10,250 (April 2013) $1,661.60 (May 2014) Naming Rights Sponsorship $100,000 Texas Rangers Miracle League Field (Feb 2013) MLS Previous Contributions MLS originally pledged to assist the City by raising funds to offset the estimated $485,000 cost of the Texas Rangers Miracle League Field To date, MLS has requested SPDC matching funds of $1,661.60 in May 2014, $10,250 in April 2013 and $50,000 in September 2012 for the field, which Park Board, SPDC and City Council approved. Also approved by City Council in February 2013, was the Texas Rangers Miracle League Field Naming Rights Sponsorship Agreement in the amount of $100,000 in partnership with Texas Rangers Foundation and Miracle League of Southlake MLS plans to continue their fund raising efforts to contribute further to the construction cost of the field. 4 City of Southlake Strategy Map Critical Business Outcomes CBO1 - Continue to implement Southlake 2030 Plan by focusing on short-term initiatives. In addition to linking to the Focus Areas, the Agreement meets Critical Business Outcomes Objective CBO5 – Optimize resources through collaboration and partnerships to reduce costs and add service value 5 On August 3, 2015, the Department of Community Services received a request from MLS for a 100% match of a proposed $2,000 cash contribution toward the construction cost of the Texas Rangers Miracle League Field at Bicentennial Park. The total construction cost for the field is estimated to be approximately $485,000.
