No. 704-H 1 Proposed Revisions to the Existing Sign Ordinance Provide a definition to clarify upper story signage Add language prohibiting upper story signage unless approved under a Master Sign Plan or Variance Add upper floor signage to Master Sign Plan provisions The purpose of this item is to consider on second reading an amendment to the Sign Ordinance 704 –G to provide provisons for addressing upper story signage on multiple-story buildings. Specically this ordinance will : READ SLIDE 2 Proposed Upper Story Signage Definition Section 4 SIGN, UPPER STORY: An attached sign located on a multistory building that is either displayed above the ceiling level of the first story and/or displayed 20 feet or more above grade of the closest roadway surface. This is the proposed definition for upper story signage 3 Proposed Addition to Prohibited Signs Section 5 5.2.23 Upper story signs, unless approved as part of a Master Sign Plan or variance. This regulation will be added to the prohibited signs section 4 Section 8.3 “Application Requirements” b. Upper Story Signs Section 8.4.9 “Multistory Buildings corporate offices and hotels” a. For multi-story corporate offices and hotels, signs should be limited to monument signs and possibly a single façade sign of appropriate scale and size that identifies the name of the major tenant or building. b. For multistory commercial buildings, upper story signs should be limited to tenants that have a minimum of 25 feet of horizontal building frontage.
