Item 6A ZA15-059 – Specific Use Permit for PKD Walk & 5K Run Item 6A 1 ZA15-059 Applicant: Walk for PKD – North Texas Chapter Request: Approval of a specific use permit for a mass gathering event Location: Southlake Town Square Phase I and Phase IV The applicant is the Walk for PKD – North Texas Chapter The request is approval of a five (5 year) specific use permit to allow a mass gathering on property being described as Southlake Town Square Phase I and Phase IV, This event has been held annually since 2004. The event has grown to the point of requiring a specific use permit due to the event anticipated to grow greater than 1,000 people attending the event, to permit possible placement of a sponsor vehicle; and allow off-site signage to promote the event. The applicant is requesting a 5-year approval to hold the event annually in mid to late September. This year’s event is scheduled for September 19, 2015. 2 PKD Walk & 5K Run The future land use is Town Center 3 PKD Walk & 5K Run The current zoning is DT Downtown District 4 Aerial View Aerial view of the Town Square, The majority of the event outside the 5K run and walk are held in the park areas and surround streets to the south of Town Hall. 5 Event Details The applicant is requesting a 5-year approval to hold the event annually Held annually in middle to late September.   This year’s event is planned to be held on Saturday, September 19, 2015 from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m.; Event Details - 5K Run, a Children’s Walk and the Walk for PKD; - Sponsor booths; - Possible sponsor automobile on Fountain Place; - Children’s activities; - Pancake breakfast; - Registration area; - Baylor van; - Fire truck; and, volunteer station. The applicant is requesting a 5-year approval to hold the event annually in mid to late September. This year’s event is scheduled for September 19, 2015. The Sign Ordinance in section 6.1 – Table 3 – currently allows for events sponsered by non-profit and civic organizations to 5 off-site signs and one on site sign 32’ per sign face.
