Item 4K Approve a contract service agreement with Pruitt Consulting, Inc. for building plan review services not to exceed $65,000. 4K Madame Mayor and members of the City Council, this presentation will address Item 4K on the August 4, 2015 City Council Agenda. 1 Item 4K Approval of a professional services contract agreement with Pruitt Consulting, Inc. for building plan review and services on commercial, industrial, educational and residential not to exceed $65,000 The purpose of this item to is to request City Council approval of a professional services contract agreement Pruitt Consulting, Inc. for building plan review services on commercial, industrial, educational, institutional and residential not to exceed $65,000. The City Manager has the authority to contract for expenditures up to $50,000. Due to the large volume of building permit applications/plans already received by the City in FY 2015 and the volume anticipated through the remainder of the year it is anticipated that $50,000 in expenditures will be exceeded. The City Manager has the authority to contract for expenditures up to $50,000. Pruitt Consulting, Inc. is headquartered in Fort Worth, and is a nationally recognized, innovative code consulting firm specializing in building, life safety, energy and accessibility codes and standards. The company has over 30 years of experience in the application of codes and standards. Contracting with Pruitt Consulting, Inc. has allowed the City to review larger industrial, commercial and office related permits and plans more efficiently and effectively. Pruitt Consulting has the necessary credentials and experience to ensure successful and code compliant design. 4 Background The staff report contains detailed permit trend data and information. In fiscal year (FY) 2015 through 3 quarters (October 1, 2014 through June 30th 2015), the City has issued 204 new residential permits and 23 new commercial permits. Permit revenue through 3 quarters of the FY15 is $1,720,322 and the total number of all building related permits issued through 3 quarters in FY 2015 is 2,149. As indicated by the graphs and table below, permit activity remains high. The number of new residential permits in FY 2015 will exceed the number issued in FY 14 (projected 15% increase from last year) and the revenue as a result of building permits will likely exceed $2 million (10% increase from last year). 5 Financial Considerations The total annual estimated cost for the contract in FY 2015 will not exceed $65,000 .
