0318SPEED ZONE ORDINANCE No. 318 AN ORDINANCE ALTERING THE PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMITS ESTABLISHED FOR VEHICLES UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION 167 AND 169 OF ARTICLE XIX, R.C.S. 6701d, UNIFORM ;,CT IIEGULAT1NG TRAFFIC ON HIGHWAYS, UPON THE BASIS OF A~; ENGINEERING AND TRAFFIC INVESTIGATION UPON CERTAIN STREETS AND HIGHWAYS, OR PARTS PHEREOF, WITHIN THE CORPOk~%TE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF~ AS SET OUT IN THE ORDINANCE: AND PROVIDING A PENALTY OF A FINE NOT TO EXCEED $200.00 FOR VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE. WHEREAS, Secticn 167 and 169 of Article XIX, R.C.S. 67Old, Uniform Act Regulating Traffic on Highways, provides that whenever the governing body of the City shall determine upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation that any prima facie speed there- in set forth is greater or less than is reasonable or safe under the conditions found to exist at any intersection or other place or upon any part of a street or highway, with the City taking into considera- tion the width and condition of the pavement and other circumstances on such portion of said street or highway, as well as the usual traffic thereon, said govern body may determine and declare a reasonable and safe prima facie speed limit thereat or thereon by the passage of an ordinance, which shall be effective when appropriate signs giving notice thereof are erected at such intersection or other place or part of the street or highway, now therefore, BE IT ORDAINED by the City council of the City of SOUTHLAKE , Texas: Section 1. Upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation heretofore made as authorized by the provisions of Section 167 and 169 of Article XIX, R.C.S. 6701d, Uniform Act Regulating Traffic on Highways, the following prima facie speed limits hereafter indicated for vehicles are hereby determined and declared to be reasonable and safe; and such speed limits are hereby fixed at the rate of speed indicated for vehicles traveling upon thc named streets and highways, or parts thereof, described as follows: CONTt~OI,: 353-3 -~ GI~WAY: S.H. ]14 (,OUNTY: TARRANT -2- I. Northwest Bound Lane - a) From Station 81+40 (north city limit of South]ake on S. H. 114), southeasterly 2.387 miles to Station 207+00, at 55 miles per hour. b) From Station 207+00 southeasterly 1.610 milos to Station 292+00 (720' southeast of F. M. 1709), at 45 miles per hour. c) From Station 292+00 southeasterly 0.983 mile to Station 342+94 (Southlake - Grapevine City Limit), at 55 miles per hour. II. Southeast Bound Lane - a) From Station 110+06 (north city limit of Southlake on S. H. 114), southeasterly 1.834 miles to Station 207+00 at 55 miles per hour. h) From Station 207+00 southeasterly 1.610 miles to Station 292+00 (720' southeast of F. M. 1709), at 45 miles per hour. c) From Station 292+00 southeasterly 0.989 mile to Station 344+23 (Southlake - Grapevine City Limit), at 55 miles per hour. III. School Zone - (Both Lanes) - a) From Station 207+00 (approximately 975' northwest of Carroll School Road), southeasterly 0.379 mile to Station 227+00 (approximately ],025' southeast of Carroll School Road), at 35 miles per hour when so signed for school crossing, 45 miles per hour at all other times. Section 2. Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not more than two-hundred{$2OO.OO)dollars.
