0128 2614 - 3' ORDINANCE NO. 128 / AN ORDINANCE RECEIVING AND ANNEXING THE INHABITANTS AND TERRITORIES ADJACENT TO THE TOWN OF SOUTHLARE, TEXAS, AND PROVIDING THAT SUCH AREA SHOULD BE A PART OF THE TOWN OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, AND THAT THE INHABITANTS SHALL BE ENTITLED TO THE RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES OF.OTHER CITIZENS OF THE TOWN. OF SOUTHLAIZE, TEXAS, AND BOUND BY THE ACTS AND ORDINANCES ENACTED IN PURSUANT TO TITLE 28, CHAPTERS 1 to 10 INCLUSIVE, REVISED CIVIL STATUTES OF TEXAS, AND AMENDING AND CORRECTING OFFICIAL BOUNDARIES OF THE TOWN OF SOUTHLAIC;, TEXAS, AS HERETOFORE ADOPTED AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Pursuant to Article 974 of the 1925 Revised Civil Statutes of Texas, Irving E. Cope, Sr. and others, inhabitants of the area herein described and who are qualified to vote for members of the State Legislature, have heretofore filed with the Mayor and the City Council of the Town of Southlake, Texas, their petition requesting annexation of the said area to the Town of Southlake, Texas, such area being described as follows: BEGINNING at the S. E. corner of the J. B. Martin Survey; THENCE, East 394 varas to a stake in N. line of James West Survey; THENCE, North 716 varas to a stake in West line of the J. W. Chivers Survey; THENCE, West 394 varas to a stake in the West line of the R. D. Price Survey and the East line of the J. B. Martin Survey; THENCE, South 716 varas to the place of beginning; containing 50 acres of -land, on the waters of Denton Creek. WHEREAS, said petition was accompanied by an affidavit executed by Irving E. Cope, Sr. and others, inhabitnats of the areas described and who are qualified to vote for members of the State Legislature and that by signing said affidavit certified that said petition contains the signatures of more than fifty percent of the qualified voters residing in such area who have voted in favor of - 3. having the said area and the inhabitants thereof annexed to and become a part of the Town of Southlake, Texas; and WHEREAS$ it appearing to the City Council of the Town of Southlake, Texas, that all statutory requirements in connection with said proposed annexation have been fulfilled and that the said area duly grouped into one territory is not more than h mile in width and that all of same is adjacent of the present City Limits of the Town of Southlake, Texas; BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS: 1. THE hereinbefore described territory lying adjacent to the Town of Southlake, Texas, is hereby annexed and brought within the corporate limits and made an integral part of the Town of Southlake, Texas. 2. THAT the inhabitants of the territory herein annexed to the Town of-.Southlake, Texas, shall be entitled to all the rights and privileges of other citizens and bound by all the acts and ordinances made in conformity thereto and passed and adopted in pursuant to Title 28, Chapters 1 to 10 inclusive, Revised Civil Statutes of Texas. 3. THE official map and boundaries of the Town of Southlake, Texas, to be corrected and amended so as to include the aforementioned. described territory as part of said Town. 4. THIS ordinance shall become effective from and after its passage and approved.`` ADOPTED this ~Lday of January, A. D. 1965. Chivers Survey; Thence West 394 varas to a stake in the West line of the R. D. Price Survey and the East line of the J. B. Martin Survey; Thence South 716 varas to the place of be- ginning; containing 50 acres of land, on the waters of Denton Creek. and plat attached hereto marked EXHIBIT "A" and made a part hereof for all intents and purposes herein, do hereby petition your Honorable Body to extend the present City Limits of the Town of Southlake, Texas, so as include such territory as a part of said Town. Your petitioners agree that if this request for annexation be granted, said land shall become a part of the Town of Southlake, Texas, and the said land and any future inhabitants thereof shall be entitled to all the rights and privileges of other Citizens of said Town and shall be bound by the acts and ordinances of said Town of Southlake, now in effect and as hereafter enacted.
